ardly anyone is apt to sign
language. Why not use modern
technology to help making
communication easier, where it
is most necessary? That's what the producers
of Hand Talk thought too. Hand Talk is an
app for mobile devices that receives data and
translates it to Libras, the sign language of
the deaf communities of urban Brazil with
the help of a 3D avatar who appears on the
mobile screen. This is only one example how
mobile solutions can efficiently include others
and have value add for users. In 2014 the
WSA-mobile will again select and promote the
world's best mobile content and applications.
The global WSA-mobile database will be open
to nominations from April to June, 2014. To
take part in the global contest applicants are
invited to get in touch with [enter national

1 millon apps worldwide. How do you
know what's best? Local mobile solutions that
operate in native languages and a specific
culture area have a hard time to compete with
mainstream solutions. Through national pre-
selections WSA-mobile looks for the peculiar
that can have great impact.
The national pre-selection is either done
through direct nomination by the national
expert, by a committee or by a national
competition. The national expert for each
country is online on: www.wsa-mobile.org.
